Sexual Abuse: guidance for helpers. New publication from Rosaleen McElvaney’s.
Just arrived in the office. Hot off the Press!
It’s a welcome addition to the literature on the subject and merits attention for the practical approach it gives to a somewhat difficult topic. The climate of secrecy about this subject is falling away since children are now much more likely to tell about it. There are a whole lot of adults out there who are working with children in some capacity or other (not necessarily therapists), who may find themselves in a situation of hearing about it from a child. Or may suspect that something is amiss, but may feel at a total loss as to what to do. This book will help.
